About Firefox
As there are many different versions of Firefox available, not all the links will necessarily apply - however the "Local Firefox documentation" section is intended to be correct for our Linux machines.
Local Firefox documentation (for Linux)
- "Firefox is already running, but is not responding" error message when you start Firefox
- Clearing /tmp can be helpful if Firefox is having trouble opening files e.g. you select a pdf file and the "open with" box is blank.
Other online Firefox info
- A lot of Firefox documentation is online at the Firefox website and the MozillaZine knowledge base.
- Refreshing Firefox can fix many problems such as missing bookmarks or toolbars, back/forward buttons not working, slowness and crashing, broken profile, PDF viewing not working and is the first thing to try when Firefox acts up. The procedure resets the profile and tries to keep your data.
