Useful software for Windows laptop users
- It is a university requirement that you use anti-virus software on any device accessing the network. If your laptop becomes compromised and starts attacking other machines, it may have to be disconnected. Download Trellix from the UIS website.
- PuTTY, a secure text login tool
- WinSCP - a secure file transfer tool, a GUI for scp and sftp
- MiKTeX, TeX/LaTeX for Windows
- TeXnicCenter, a TeX/LaTeX editor to be used in conjunction with a back end such as MikTeX.
- Firefox understands MathML documents, but needs some extra fonts to display them properly. Download the installer or check out the STIX fonts project which attempts to solve this problem once and for all.
- Libreoffice, a free office suite
