Welcome to the Maths IT webpages.

These pages are intended to help staff, students, and visitors to the CMS get the most out of the IT facilities. If you are new to the CMS then please look under the New Starters sub-menu for information to get you up and running.

How to contact the maths helpdesk

 

Helpdesk Location

The maths IT Helpdesk can be found in GL.03.

Helpdesk Opening Hours

The Maths Helpdesk is open from 8:30am to 5pm Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays).  It is closed between 9:30am and 10am each day for its daily meeting. 

Email is our preferred method of communication: help@maths.cam.ac.uk

If you prefer to visit us in person we have three times each day where we try to guarantee someone is in the helpdesk office (GL.03).

  • 8:30am to 9:00am
  • 10am to 11am
  • 2pm to 3pm

Outside of those hours we prefer email, however if you have an issue that is preventing you working and its easier to explain in person then please come and visit us. If no one is around drop us an email requesting we come to visit you. Tell us your office number in the email. The maths IT team comprises of the maths helpdesk team plus another team of people who do the Infrastructure work, maintaining systems such as Swirles, the maths linux system, the CMS network and exam systems. AV Assistance

 

Visit the Maths IT Helpdesk or email help@maths.cam.ac.uk giving at least 24 hour notice.

When booking meeting rooms please ensure your AV requirements are listed during your booking. If you need to amend your booking please contact reception@maths.cam.ac.uk

Store spaces Closing Down

  •   /data/septal closed at the end of July 2025.
  • /store/DPMMS closes in early to mid August (postponed)
  • /store/DAMTP closes in early to mid August (postponed).

About these pages

Our web pages focus primarily on Maths IT resources and will refer you to the UIS webpages for services that are managed centrally. Such services will include Email, Eduroam, MFA and collaboration tools such as the Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and SharePoint.
