University Services (including email)

Profile Page
All staff and students have a profile web page.

Visitors: Usually do not receive a profile page. If one is needed then your maths academic host should apply for it by filling in this form.
Linux System and HPC
The department runs its own linux system and HPC system.
Staff and students who need access should fill out the form requesting this. Alternatively their PI / supervisor can fill it out for them.
College researchers and teaching officers: Occasionally staff members from the colleges cannot access the above form. This happens when they do not have a staff record on the maths faculty database. When this happens their group/pavilion secretary or a maths academic can fill out the form below for them. Alternatively their group/pavilion secretary (or DPMMS admin office) may decide to sort out their faculty database record first.
Visitors, collaborators and anyone else requiring access please ask your host to fill out this form.
Obtaining IT assistance

For in person support you can drop by the maths helpdesk office between the hours of
- 8:30am to 9am
- 10am to 11am
- 2pm to 3pm
If you need assistance outside these hours its best to email. If you need an in person visit you can request this in your email and someone can come over to you. This keeps some quiet times in the office for the helpdesk to reply to the email queries. If the issue is urgent then do come down regardless although you may find the office is empty as the helpdesk staff are visiting other offices. The helpdesk closes each day between 9:30am to 10am for its daily meeting.
The helpdesk office is in Pavilion G on the lower ground floor. GL.03. It can be accessed from Pavilion G or from the central core lecture room area.
If your problem is difficult, requires a lot of advanced knowledge or is very time consuming then the helpdesk may refer you to the maths IT Infrastructure team. They will let you know if this is happening.
You can expect an initial answer from the maths helpdesk within a day. Occasionally this may slip to two days.

In addition to the data storage systems offered by the university, maths also has data storage systems.
Drop box
The physics department in the University runs a drop box service which guarantees the data is stored in the UK. Researchers from any department in the university may purchase space. More information.
