IT Emergencies

help@maths.cam.ac.uk is our general computing helpdesk. We focus our contact hours on 10am-11am and 2pm-3pm. We use our remaining office hours to focus on executing IT tasks for you.
If there is an IT emergency, please contact help@maths.cam.ac.uk and copy-in the helpdesk manager: HelpdeskManager@maths.cam.ac.uk. We cannot guarantee a quick response outside of normal office hours. Should the need arise, our IT Manager can be contacted via it-manager@maths.cam.ac.uk.
Emergencies are typically characterised by:
A problem affecting a large section of the CMS, such as a network outage or the failure of a widely-used server
A security-related matter where there is imminent danger of a serious security breach
The following are examples of something that is NOT an emergency:
- forgetting your password
- your desktop PC not working
- exceeding your disk quota the night before an important deadline
- Email or MFA issues which can be dealt with by the UIS 24 hour helpdesk service.
In such situations please include the word 'urgent' in the subject header (if it is urgent for you).
