Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (UROP)

The UROP offers an opportunity to participate in the University's internationally leading research activities, giving undergraduate students the chance to consider research as a possible career. Placements are usually for 10 weeks, and you can apply to any project of interest in the participating Departments.

School of Physical Sciences, University of Cambridge

The School of the Physical Sciences is invites current undergraduate students to apply for an eight-week summer placement.  Open to all those who meet the essential and widening participation criteria, the placements are residential and provide an ideal opportunity for those who may not have much, or any, practical research experience by offering an opportunity in one of our departments.

Institute of Astronomy, University of Cambridge

The Institute of Astronomy’s Summer Internship Programme aims to provide undergraduate interns with research experience over the summer by working on projects supervised by a member of the Institute.  The programme provides an excellent opportunity for students to gain practical insight into STEM research and the knowledge and confidence to progress to postgraduate studies.

Google DeepMind Research Ready programme

Run by the University of Cambridge Department of Computer Science and Technology, the Google DeepMind Research Ready programme is a summer internship programme offering insights into AI research to those from backgrounds under-represented in this field.

Count Me In, University of Edinburgh

Count Me In is a 6-week cohort-based research internship in Edinburgh for aspiring undergraduate students of mathematics. The aim is to show women and non-binary people, members of under-represented ethnic minorities in mathematics, people from a challenging socioeconomic background and  people with a disability, what it is like to do mathematics research.

University of Warwick, Summer Research Programme

This is a 6-week cohort-based research experience at Warwick for undergraduate students of mathematics belonging to groups underrepresented in mathematics.

Summer Student Program in Dresden

The Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) belongs to the Helmholtz Association, Germany's largest research organization.  It houses ten research institutes as well as large-scale facilities.  Students joining the summer program will have the opportunity to learn about scientific work in the fields of physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, geoscience, and medicine.
