In March 2026 researchers including Professor Ben Allanach and Professor Anthony Challinor from the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics were joined by an audience of Cambridge alumni for a live webinar discussing the latest research into dark matter.
Dark matter makes up most of the matter in our Universe, yet its true nature remains one of the greatest mysteries in modern science. In this webinar, leading Cambridge researchers explored how we’re uncovering the invisible.
The discussion featured recent work by Ben Allanach, Professor of Theoretical Physics in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) ; Professor Hiranya Peiris from the Institute of Astronomy and Kavli Institute for Cosmology; and Dr Harry Cliff from the Cavendish Laboratory, Department of Physics.
The discussion was chaired by Anthony Challinor, Professor of Cosmology and Astrophysics in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics and the Institute of Astronomy, and Director of the Kavli Institute for Cosmology.
This was part of our Future of Physical Sciences series of live online events for alumni, sharing insights and ideas from the wide range of Cambridge research through informal discussion with the researchers involved. The webinar discussion was recorded on 12 March 2026, and includes a Q&A with the audience.
