To celebrate International Women in Mathematics Day in May 2026, the University's social media team interviewed some of our amazing undergraduates.
From following your passions to expanding everything you know, find out what they love about being part of the Cambridge mathematics community, and what advice they'd give their younger selves.
International Women in Mathematics Day is celebrated on 12 May each year. The date was chosen as the birthday of Maryam Mirzakhani, the first woman to be awarded the Fields Medal (often described as the Nobel Prize of mathematics).
You can discover more about Maryam Mirzakhani's extraordinary work in this lecture given by Holly Krieger, Professor of Mathematics here in the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics.
