The Origin Story

The programme launched in summer 2021 when the first cohort of Philippa Fawcett Interns experienced life as researchers in the Centre for Mathematical Sciences at Cambridge.

The idea for the programme came from Tamara Grossman, a PhD student in the Cantab Institute for the Mathematics of Information (CCIMI). Tamara credits her personal experience of doing an internship with her current supervisor, Professor Carola Bibiane Schönlieb, as the reason she is now doing a PhD at Cambridge.
