The Origin Story
The programme launched in summer 2021 when the first cohort of Philippa Fawcett Interns experienced life as researchers in the Centre for Mathematical Sciences at Cambridge.
The idea for the programme came from Tamara Grossman, while she was a PhD student in the Cantab Institute for the Mathematics of Information (CCIMI). Tamara credits her personal experience of doing an internship with her PhD supervisor, Professor Carola Bibiane Schönlieb, as the reason she went on to do a PhD at Cambridge.
