Centre for Mathematical Sciences, Wilberforce Road, Cambridge CB3 0WA
Join us on Saturday 26 October for this event to showcase black mathematicians and their contribution, and to inspire young black students to study mathematics at University. There will be a key note talk by Dr Nira Chamberlain, President Elect of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications, short presentations by current researchers and recent graduates, and a panel discussion with current and recent students.
This full-day event for Year 12 girls (ages 16-17) studying A-level Mathematics is designed to broaden mathematical horizons, give a stimulating introduction to advanced mathematical problem-solving, and encourage more girls to study Mathematics at university. The day will include talks giving an insight into some of the areas of maths encountered at university and problem-solving workshops, as well as the opportunity to talk to current university Mathematics students.
We are delighted to host a one-day workshop to mark the retirement of Anne-Christine Davis, Professor of Mathematical Physics, to celebrate her achievements in theoretical physics, cosmology, particle physics and beyond.
On Saturday 27 April and Saturday 4 May 2019 the Faculty of Mathematics is holding its main Open Days for prospective applicants for entry in 2020, with a full programme which includes mathematical talks, interview practice sessions, fun mathematical puzzles, and more.
Across a five day workshop, the ESGI brings mathematicians and industrialists together, working side by side to solve the real and important issues that companies and other organisations are facing today.
