On a connected compact Riemannian manifold M with b boundary components, I will explain how to obtain geometric lower bounds for the first nonzero Steklov eigenvalue. These lower bounds are related to the Laplace eigenvalues on the boundary of M and on the first positive eigenvalue of the Neumann problem for the Laplacian on M. This is a joint work with T.
