Sat Mar 21st 2026, 12.00pm to 4.00pm
Venue:
Centre for Mathematical Sciences, Cambridge CB3 0WA

Mathematics is the language of the universe, and Cambridge mathematicians, statisticians and theoretical physicists work on everything from number theory and geometry to the Big Bang and AI.

Join staff and students from the Mathematics Faculty for hands-on activities, pop-up explorations and demonstrations to discover the excitement of mathematics and the mathematical sciences. Develop your mathematical thinking and creative reasoning with our problem-solving activities, explore whether we can teach computers to think like a human mathematician, find out how soundwaves can make objects levitate, discover more about how ripples in spacetime help reveal black holes, and investigate how maths can fight infectious diseases through our Lego epidemics.

This free public event is part of the 2026 Cambridge FestivalNo need to book – drop in throughout the afternoon.

Suitable for ages 8+ years through to adult. Please note that all under-16s must be accompanied by a supervising adult.

The Maths Cafe will be open throughout the afternoon, serving hot and cold drinks, snacks and sandwiches.
