About CCA

CCA was established in 2009 after a comprehensive review of UK mathematics suggested a need for a Centre for Doctoral Training in the field of mathematics.

It is part of the University of Cambridge Faculty of Mathematics, based at the Centre for Mathematical Sciences.

EPSRC Centres for Doctoral Training

Historically, funding for PhD studentships have been provided through two streams: Doctoral Training Accounts, lump sums of money given to university departments and used to fund research students, or Project Studentships, whereby individual students apply to the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) for research grant funding.

Centres for Doctoral Training (or CDTs) are a new, third stream of funding from the EPSRC: centres for PhD students are established in areas of strategic importance to the UK research base. A university is chosen to host a CDT after a rigorous and competitive process.

CCA at the Centre for Mathematical Sciences

The University of Cambridge Centre for Mathematical Sciences houses the Cambridge Centre for Analysis alongside the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences, the Betty & Gordon Moore Library, and the two departments which make up the Faculty of Mathematics, the Department of Pure and Mathematical Statistics and the Department of of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics.

The Centre for Mathematical Sciences is a self-contained research community with a full range of useful facilities: from covered bicycle racks to a large common room with the Maths Café. There is also an endless array of talks and seminars.

Visiting CCA

Information on how to reach the Centre for Mathematical Sciences, where the CCA is based, please visit the CMS website for directions.

We also hold an annual open day for prospective students. If you would like more information about Open Days and about the 2012-13 course, sign up to the CCA mailing list and we will email you when the date of the next open day has been announced.
