Faculty of Mathematics

 

The brief of the Teaching Committee for Mathematics in the Natural Science is to advise the Faculty Board on all aspects of the courses entitled Mathematics (A and B) in Part IA of the Natural Sciences Tripos and the course entitled Mathematics in Part IB of the Natural Sciences Tripos. It reports annually to the Faculty Board on the examinations and other times as required.

Terms of Reference

The committee is required to:

  • consider the reports of examiners for Mathematics in the Natural Sciences, and make a digest thereon for the Faculty Board containing recommendations of any action needed;
  • organise student questionnaires on each lecture course and to analyse the returns of such questionnaires;
  • receive and consider matters arising from the minutes of the Consultative Committee for Mathematics in the Natural Sciences;
  • consider any other strategic matters relating to the teaching of Mathematics in the Natural Sciences.

Membership

The Teaching Committee for Mathematics in the Natural Sciences is a committee appointed by the Faculty Board of Mathematics. Its membership consists of:

  1. the Head of Department of DAMTP, ex officio,
  2. the Chair of the Syllabus Committee for Mathematics in the Natural Sciences, ex officio,
  3. the second DAMTP member of the Syllabus Committee for Mathematics in the Natural Sciences, ex officio,
  4. the Convenor of the Consultative Committee for Mathematics in the Natural Sciences, ex officio.
