Part III (MMath/MASt)

Statement on Teaching in Part III of the Mathematical Tripos for 2020/21 (27 July 2020)

The Faculty has considered the likely impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and government guidance, and can confirm that based on current guidance there will be no significant changes to the academic content of Part III of the Mathematical Tripos for 2020/21.

There will, however, be changes to the way the content is delivered through lectures and examples classes, in order to mitigate against risks to health and to give students the best possible academic experience in the circumstances. The changes are:

  • All lectures will be recorded and made available online.
  • It is expected that students will not be able to attend lectures in person in Michaelmas Term; any possibility of easing restrictions in Lent Term will be kept under review.
  • Where possible, examples classes will be delivered face-to-face but this will depend on space requirements of and risk assessments for individual classes. Further information will be provided in due course.

These arrangements for lectures and examples classes are based on current guidance and expectations; the Faculty will continue to monitor the changing public health situation throughout the academic year.

Prospective students will also wish to consult the University's COVID-19 guidance for all students and Advice for prospective students and offer holders. Please also see Stay Safe Cambridge Uni for details about the University's measures.
