Email Clients (programs to read and send email)
Webmail
Webmail means reading email in your web browser (you probably have experience of reading your personal email this way). It is recommended because it is easy to use from anywhere in the world, requiring no configuration. The webmail servers listed below have comprehensive online help.
Other supported mail programs
- Thunderbird
- Email client from the Mozilla foundation, available for Windows, Linux and Mac.
- Outlook
- Alternative email client for Windows and Mac, used by some admin staff.
- pine
- Popular older text-based Linux email client, a version is also available on the Windows desktops.
- mutt
- Another text-based Linux email program, simple, vi-style and highly configurable.
Unsupported mail programs
The following programs are installed on the Maths Linux machines but are unsupported. If you choose to use them you are on your own.
