Maths Email Address Policy

University Email:

Staff and Students receive a University Email Address in the form of crsid@cam.ac.uk

Visitors and Collaborators can apply for these by discussing their need with their academic host who in turn will discuss valid cases with their Head of Department.  It is helpful to do this in advance of arrival.

Department Alias

Sometimes people also need a department alias.  It may end in @damtp.cam.ac.uk, or @dpmms.cam.ac.uk or @statslab.cam.ac.uk.  Sometimes someone needs an address for the faculty. That ends in @maths.cam.ac.uk.

Department aliases can be in the form of crsid@ or a longer form that traditionally includes the surname. For example je2445@dpmms.cam.ac.uk or J.Bloggs@statslab.cam.ac.uk

Your department alias is redirected to your University Email Address.

Students are not eligible for email aliases.

How to Apply:

(This policy also covers alias extensions and requests for  a previous held alias to be reopened for you).

In your application remember to include the exact alias you are asking for.

Academic:  Email your Head of Department PA to request set up.

DAMTP hodsec@damtp.cam.ac.uk

DPMMS: hodsec@dpmms.cam.ac.uk

Research staff and professional staff in maths: Make a case to the BOM as to why you need the address .

DAMTP BOM:  damtpsec@maths.cam.ac.uk

DPMMS BOM:  bom@dpmms.cam.ac.uk

Staff/Student Leavers:  if you have a department alias it will continue to redirect to your University Email address. UIS will contact you about your University Email closure about a week to five weeks after your leaving date. .
If you are staying in the university then the redirect will cease after six months.

Should you have a good case to need your department email alias to stay open for longer then please contact the BOM (ex-staff) or Deputy DA for Education (ex-students).

Visitors/Collaborator:  Can apply for one of these by discussing their need with their academic host who in turn will discuss valid cases with their Head of Department.  If it is granted it will  be redirected to their personal address. If the visitor/collaborator also has University Email then the department alias will be redirected to there, as for a staff member.  It is helpful to request this in advance of arrival.

If you are asking for an extension the same policy applies.
