Email Address Policy
Definitions for maths in this document.
- @department is either @damtp.cam.ac.uk, @dpmms.cam.ac.uk or @statslab.cam.ac.uk
- @faculty is @maths.cam.ac.uk
- contracted staff Your employment contract is with maths and you are paid by the university .
- University Email: Address in the form of crsid@cam.ac.uk
- Personal Email: Email that goes to your crsid address
- Role Email Address: Email that goes to a role address like undergrad-office@maths.cam.ac.uk
Who gets what
Academic Staff:
Receive @department and @faculty address in the form of crsid@department, crsid@faculty. May apply for long form address typically in the form of initials / firstname . surname@...
Receives university email address.
All other contracted staff
Receive @department address in the form of crsid@department. May apply for long form address typically in the form of initials/firstname.surname@department
Can receive personal @faculty address if Department Administrator or Head of Department agrees there is good reason for them to need to send from such a personal address. This is separate to any role addresses which already exist.
Receives university email
Research Students
Receive @department address in the form of crsid@department. May apply for long form address if there is good reason to need one.
Does not receive @faculty address.
Receives university email. This is not arranged by the department and does not start to operate until the person has a certain status within camsis. The maths postgraduate office are the first port of call if this is not working for a new student.
College Research Fellows / College Teaching Officers
Receive @department address in the form of crsid@department. May apply for long form address typically in the form of initials/firstname.surname@department
Does not usually receive an @faculty address. But if good reason to have one may receive one on agreement of head of department / department administrator.
University Email is arranged by the college.
DPMMS Authorised Visiting Students
DPMMS Students who are approved by the internship coordinator and here for eight or more weeks receive a University Email address.
Everybody Else
Do not receive @department or @faculty addresses. If you have a need of one the person who authorised your access on the system makes a case direct to their head of department.

There is a small exception here regarding @department address for people who supervise many courses who if the department adminstrator verifies this can receive a special status which gives them an @department address.
