And away you go...

So assuming you now have a system that works, how do you write LATEX?
There are many reference guides available, so I'm not going to tell you. There are some excellent references at http://www.eng.cam.ac.uk/help/tpl/textprocessing/. Those should be more than adequate for your needs: LATEX is not hard.
Having said this, do not underestimate the use of cannibalising other people's LATEX. This is one of the best ways to learn. With that in mind, here is a short LATEX source; here is how it looks in Postscript and PDF. You can use this to try out your new system. If it doesn't work, you may have to install some packages, but I'll leave that for someone else to explain.
