Part III (MMath/MASt)

2023-2024

The Part III Guide to Courses provides information on individual lecture courses offered in a given year. It is updated over the summer to provide information to students starting the course in October; this means that it is subject to change

The course descriptions listed below are for courses offered in Part III of the Mathematical Tripos 2023-2024. Students should read these in conjunction with the accompanying Notes and Disclaimers and the Part III Handbook, and choose an appropriate number and permissible combination of examinable courses. In addition, students are advised to read the online advice on Preparing for Part III.

Please be aware that these are informal course descriptions - the definitive syllabus for each course is determined by the lectures and associated course materials each year.

Courses are presented by subject area. Students may select courses freely from those available, subject to the constraints of the lecture timetable, regardless of which department they registered with or which application stream they applied through.

You may view the courses offered in each area alongside their descriptions by clicking on the subject link in the list below.

Current Part III students may access the Moodle sites for individual lecture courses through the Part III Academic Support Moodle (Raven protected). PhD students at the Faculty of Mathematics will be sent enrolment instructions. Other members of the University may request access to the lecture course Moodles by completing the relevant form below. Please note that requests cannot be actioned until after the start of the relevant term.
